The Massachusetts Haunted Trail

Massachusetts carries more documented hauntings than almost any other state, spread from Salem's witch-trial landmarks and Boston's colonial burying grounds through mill villages in the center of the state to quiet Cape Cod inns. Revolutionary-era graves and working restaurants with century-old ghost stories anchor the coast, while college campuses further inland keep their own traditions going. Most of the network clusters near the water, but Worcester County millponds and Berkshire farmhouses hold their share of stories too. More than 120 venues make up the map. The featured weekend loop threads six daytime stops and five overnight inns into a compact, driveable cut through that larger picture.
