The Wisconsin Haunted Trail

Wisconsin's haunted places follow water and settlement. Logging money and early Scandinavian and German communities built up the rivers and lake towns through the 1800s, and that history clusters along the Fox Valley's factory towns and campuses. Great Lakes port towns add their own layer, and so do the pioneer cemeteries and asylum grounds the state now handles with care rather than as roadside thrills. Well over a hundred entries make up the current list. The featured loop runs due north from Ripon's campus stage through five historic downtowns to the tip of Door County, four overnight stays included, the curated cut for a weekend rather than the full circuit.
