   Colonel Philetus Norris, later Yellowstone's second superintendent, built this structure in 1876 as a general store and stagecoach stop before it became Detroit's oldest running bar. Patrons and staff describe a figure called the Cowboy, identified by his wide-brimmed hat as Norris, moving through the barroom. A Lady in White, said to be one of his daughters, has been reported on the stairs, and cold spots linger in the old jail cells.

   Detroit lumber baron David Whitney Jr. built this 52-room mansion in 1894 and died there in 1900; decades later part of the house served briefly as a tuberculosis hospice before it reopened as a restaurant in 1986. Staff and guests describe a sobbing woman near the third-floor restroom and shadow figures crossing the former gallery now known as the Ghost Bar. Some also attribute faint coughing on lower floors to the hospice years.

    Eloise opened in 1839 as the Wayne County Poorhouse and grew into a self-contained complex that combined a psychiatric hospital with a tuberculosis sanatorium before closing between 1977 and 1986. More than 7,100 patients lie in unmarked graves in the Eloise Cemetery. In the surviving Kay Beard Building, now run as a tour and investigation site, visitors report footsteps in empty corridors and the sensation of being touched while walking the long central hallway.
