The Calumet Theatre carries a distinguished paranormal reputation centered on its famous theatrical resident, Madame Helena Modjeska. The celebrated Polish actress performed at the theater before her death in 1909. Her first documented spectral appearance occurred in 1958 when actress Adysse Lane observed the apparition of Modjeska in the theater's balcony, watching the performance and silently mouthing lines to the actress on stage.

Since that initial sighting, patrons and staff have consistently reported observing Modjeska's apparition roaming throughout the theater structure. Witnesses describe feeling inexplicable cold spots and hearing music emanating from no visible source—phenomena attributed to her continued presence.

Additional paranormal activity stems from a documented 1903 murder that occurred within the theater. The victim's spirit reportedly manifests through disembodied screaming heard during nighttime hours. Visitors describe these spectral vocalizations as haunting and unmistakable.

Orbs and unexplained light phenomena have been documented in paranormal investigations. Multiple witnesses describe seeing luminous spheres moving through the theater's spaces without rational explanation.
