Montgomery National Golf Club occupies agricultural land in Le Sueur County, Minnesota, that was once farmed by Benedict Burii, a nineteenth-century pioneer settler. Burii and his wife are interred beneath a large cottonwood tree on the property, their graves visible near the first hole. Their burial predates the golf course and was incorporated into the course layout rather than relocated.
The club has operated as an 18-hole championship course in the small community of Montgomery, approximately 50 miles south of Minneapolis. Owner Greg McKush has been an active participant in the course's paranormal reputation, documenting and describing his own unexplained experiences on the property.
The club subsequently developed a Beatles-themed identity — described by golf media as the world's first Beatles-themed golf course — reflecting an approach to the property that embraces its distinctive character.

The paranormal reports at Montgomery National Golf Club involve two clearly distinct figures, each associated with a different era of the land.
Benedict Burii, the nineteenth-century farmer buried near the first hole, is the older presence. His apparition is described in work clothes and a hat — the clothing of a working farmer from the settlement period. Staff locking up after close have reported him standing in different positions across the course, watching the clubhouse. He does not approach or interact.
The club's deceased founder occupies the clubhouse. He has been reported seated at the bar by employees arriving or closing, and peering through the clubhouse windows from outside. The founder's attentiveness to the facility he built extends to apparent manipulation of its equipment: televisions have been found switched on after being turned off, and the air conditioner's thermostat has been found reset to temperatures far below normal ambient settings.
Owner Greg McKush has described a specific incident where a jacket was pressed into his breakfast food in the time between his leaving the room and returning. He has stated he 'would swear on' the authenticity of his experiences.
The combination of a working farm burial incorporated into a commercial property and the founder's apparent ongoing investment in the club's operations has generated enough media attention to place Montgomery National on multiple 'most haunted golf courses in the world' lists.
