The paranormal reports at Montgomery National Golf Club involve two clearly distinct figures, each associated with a different era of the land.

Benedict Burii, the nineteenth-century farmer buried near the first hole, is the older presence. His apparition is described in work clothes and a hat — the clothing of a working farmer from the settlement period. Staff locking up after close have reported him standing in different positions across the course, watching the clubhouse. He does not approach or interact.

The club's deceased founder occupies the clubhouse. He has been reported seated at the bar by employees arriving or closing, and peering through the clubhouse windows from outside. The founder's attentiveness to the facility he built extends to apparent manipulation of its equipment: televisions have been found switched on after being turned off, and the air conditioner's thermostat has been found reset to temperatures far below normal ambient settings.

Owner Greg McKush has described a specific incident where a jacket was pressed into his breakfast food in the time between his leaving the room and returning. He has stated he 'would swear on' the authenticity of his experiences.

The combination of a working farm burial incorporated into a commercial property and the founder's apparent ongoing investment in the club's operations has generated enough media attention to place Montgomery National on multiple 'most haunted golf courses in the world' lists.
