The Econlockhatchee River and its tributary, the Little Econ, wind through the eastern edge of the Orlando metropolitan area. The Old Econ Road crossing is a rural bridge point that became associated with a specific local figure by the late 1980s.
The broader Oviedo Lights phenomenon is the more extensively documented element of this corridor's paranormal reputation. Glowing orbs have been reported above the water near the Snow Hill Road bridge canoe launch since at least the 1940s, attracting interest from generations of local residents and documented in regional media. The orbs' origins have been attributed variously to swamp gas, bioluminescence, and folklore figures.
The Christopher Klink legend appears to have developed separately from the Oviedo Lights tradition, localized to the Old Econ Road bridge and associated with a specific date: October 13, 1987, marked as graffiti under the bridge. The legend describes Klink as a young man who died by suicide from the bridge following a romantic loss.

The local tradition at Old Econ Road holds that a figure named Christopher Klink died by suicide from the bridge on October 13, 1987, following the end of a romantic relationship, and that his tag and the date remain inscribed on the underside of the span. On the anniversary date each October, visitors have reported sudden extreme cold and the visual appearance of a figure suspended from the bridge before the image disappears. Some accounts add theatrical flourishes — the river reversing course, a flash of light illuminating the graffiti.
No newspaper record, obituary, or death certificate for Christopher Klink on that date has been identified. The name and the specific staging appear only in the Shadowlands Haunted Places Index and in aggregator pages derived from it. The legend, in other words, is the legend — the named individual and the choreography should be read as local folklore rather than as documented history.
The Oviedo Lights are a different and older phenomenon along the same river corridor. Glowing orbs have been reported above the Econlockhatchee near the Snow Hill Road bridge canoe launch since at least the 1940s, predating the Klink account by decades and appearing in generations of regional coverage. Proposed explanations have included swamp gas, bioluminescence, and refracted automobile headlights. The lights remain unresolved.
