Est. 1822 · Butler County Pioneer History
Millville is a small community in Hanover Township, Butler County, in southwestern Ohio. The cemetery, established in 1822, is among the older burial grounds in this part of the state. It came under township management in the early twentieth century, and Hanover Township purchased additional acreage for expansion in 2005.
The cemetery sits along Millville Avenue just northeast of the Columbus Drive intersection — a prominent location on a well-traveled road rather than a remote rural site. It is administered by the Hanover Township Trustees, whose offices are at 2595 Old Oxford Road in Hamilton.
Butler County's settlement history in this corridor dates to the early decades of the nineteenth century, and the cemetery's earliest interments reflect that era of Ohio frontier farming communities.

The two apparitions at Millville Cemetery have been reported by neighbors and passersby over a span of years. The elderly man is described as walking among the headstones in the manner of someone tending to the grounds — unhurried, purposeful, and completely silent. He is seen at dusk and after dark. Witnesses who approach the area where he was seen find no one there.
The young girl is a different kind of account. She does not walk. She stands at the edge of the cemetery near a particular tree, looking out toward the field. Witnesses describe her as motionless for as long as they observe her, and gone when they look again. No one has reported her turning toward them or acknowledging observation.
A ball of light — a luminous orb — has also been reported moving across the grounds. Cold spots are described throughout, particularly in the older sections of the cemetery near the 1822-era interments.
The Ohio Exploration Society includes Millville Cemetery in its Butler County haunting listings, with the elderly man and young girl accounts as the primary documented phenomena.
