Footsteps in Warehouse CFull-body apparition in period dressVoices in Blanton's former meeting room

Blanton worked at the distillery for more than 55 years and lived on the property until his death in 1959. Afterward, employees began describing footsteps in the historic aging warehouses, voices repeating a person's name in Blanton's former meeting room, and a figure in period clothing who watches visitors from a distance before vanishing. Tour guides most often attach the sightings to Blanton himself, though some accounts describe other former workers.

In 2011, the Syfy series Ghost Hunters investigated the distillery for the episode "Distillery of Spirits," which aired November 16, 2011; the TAPS team reported unexplained footsteps and a full-body apparition consistent with staff descriptions. Buffalo Trace has since built limited seasonal programming around the reputation, including historical evening walks in late October and, in some years, a sweepstakes overnight with a professional investigator, though the distillery does not run a standing ghost-tour product.
