Lamb's Chapel in La Porte County, Indiana began as the third Methodist church constructed in Kankakee Township. The chapel was built in 1854 on land donated by Oren Lamb, described in period accounts as a frame structure roughly the size of an ordinary schoolhouse.
The building's location shifted twice over the following decades. Around 1876 it was moved across Fail Road and began serving a dual purpose — as a weekday schoolhouse and a Sunday place of worship. By 1887, it was moved back to its original side of the road, onto land deeded by Nelson Morton, and a brick schoolhouse was constructed in its former position on the east side of the road.
The influential early members recorded in La Porte County genealogical records include Harrison Bishop, Al Pease, Oren Lamb, Calida Preston, Enoch Preston, Joe Stanton, Charles Carpenter, Isaac Dodd, Theo Fail, and James Wilson, among others.
The Lamb's Chapel Cemetery associated with the site holds approximately 370 memorial records, making it one of the more substantial rural burial grounds in the area of Rolling Prairie.

The legend circulating around Lamb's Chapel cemetery follows a pattern common to rural Indiana road folklore: a young woman whose car breaks down near the chapel at midnight, a pursuer emerging from the darkness, a chase through the graveyard. The account has persisted in local awareness, though no newspaper records, police reports, or named witnesses were found during research.
Additional reports include cold spots observed in and around the cemetery. The automotive breakdown element — that passing cars may also stall near the site — is a recurring motif in Midwestern rural ghost lore and appears here without documented corroboration.
