New Hope's Logan Inn ranks #7 among Pennsylvania's most haunted places
A new index ranks places by published accounts, not legend
September 30, 2026
With Halloween approaching, Logan Inn in New Hope ranks #7 among Pennsylvania's most haunted places in HauntBound's 2026 index. The index ranks 245 Pennsylvania sites by separate published accounts and how far back they go, not by fame or search popularity.
Logan Inn ranks #7. John Wells built the tavern on the Delaware River in 1727, and it was renamed for Chief Logan of the Lenni-Lenape in 1828. Four separate published accounts describe activity there. Guests in Room Six, where Emily Lutz spent her final years and died, describe blankets pulled from the bed and a man's reflection in the mirror, and a Revolutionary War-era soldier apparition has been reported in the inn's common areas.
Statewide, Baker Mansion in Altoona ranks #1, and Eastern State Penitentiary in Philadelphia, the state's most famous haunted site, misses the top ten.
"We rank by evidence, not legend: independent published accounts, documented history, and how far back the reports go. We don't claim ghosts are real, or that they aren't. We document where the reports concentrate, and we show our work," said Ben Fineman, editor of HauntBound. The ranking shows each site's documented record.
Visiting:Logan Inn, 10 W. Ferry St., New Hope, is a working inn and restaurant; rooms are for overnight guests, from about $216 a night.
