Two Oklahoma City landmarks rank among Oklahoma's ten most haunted places
A new index ranks places by published accounts, not legend
September 30, 2026
With Halloween approaching, two Oklahoma City landmarks rank among Oklahoma's ten most haunted places in HauntBound's 2026 index, including the Henry & Anna Overholser Mansion (closed for restoration until 2027) at #10. The index ranks 78 Oklahoma sites by separate published accounts and how far back they go, not by fame or search popularity.
Henry & Anna Overholser Mansion ranks #10. Henry Overholser, an early Oklahoma City developer, and his wife, Anna, completed the Chateauesque mansion in 1903; Anna lived there until her death in 1940. Three separate published accounts describe activity there. Staff and visitors describe a woman in a long gown glimpsed in the upper hallways or at the third-floor turret windows, believed to be Anna, along with footsteps and a piano note when no one is at the keys.
Skirvin Hilton Hotel ranks #6. William Balser Skirvin opened the hotel on September 26, 1911, with 224 rooms, later expanded between 1929 and 1930 to 13 floors and 525 rooms. Five separate published accounts describe activity there, the earliest dated to 2010, when the New York Knicks attributed a loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder partly to disrupted sleep at the hotel; the Chicago Bulls reported similar experiences, including doors slamming and unexplained sounds outside their rooms. Reporters who investigated the hotel's long-running ghost legend found no supporting historical record.
Statewide, Constantine Theater in Pawhuska ranks #1.
"We rank by evidence, not legend: independent published accounts, documented history, and how far back the reports go. We don't claim ghosts are real, or that they aren't. We document where the reports concentrate, and we show our work," said Ben Fineman, editor of HauntBound. The ranking shows each site's documented record.
