Juneau's Alaskan Hotel & Bar ranks #1 in Alaska's haunted index

With Halloween approaching, the Alaskan Hotel & Bar in Juneau ranks #1 in HauntBound's 2026 index of Alaska's most haunted places. The index ranks 26 Alaska sites by separate published accounts and how far back they go, not by fame or search popularity.

Alaskan Hotel & Bar ranks #1. The hotel opened in 1913 in downtown Juneau during the Gold Rush years, when the Treadwell and Alaska-Juneau hard-rock mines drove the local economy, and it is the oldest continuously operating hotel in the city. Four separate published accounts describe activity there, the earliest published in 2003. Guests describe a woman in white in the halls and bar, and flickering lights and footsteps on the upper floors.

The Alaskan Hotel & Bar is also Alaska's most famous haunted site.

"We rank by evidence, not legend: independent published accounts, documented history, and how far back the reports go. We don't claim ghosts are real, or that they aren't.
