Est. 1881 · 1881 building in Albuquerque's Wells Park neighborhood · Historic saloon and brothel use · First 'bed and brew' in New Mexico; opened August 2018 · Featured on Travel Channel's Ghost Adventures (November 2020)
The Painted Lady Bed & Brew is located at 1100 Bellamah Avenue NW in the Wells Park neighborhood of Albuquerque, just northwest of the downtown core. The building dates to 1881 and operated through its early decades as a saloon and brothel with an attached wine room. The structure passed through later uses including a residence before owner Jesse Herron purchased the property in 2014.
During the 2014 renovation, Herron told the Albuquerque Journal that flooring contractors discovered a decades-old bloodstain preserved in the original wood flooring. Herron lived on the property during the renovation period — nine years before the public opening — and the venue officially opened as the Painted Lady Bed & Brew in August 2018, marketed as the first 'bed and brew' (a B&B paired with a craft-beer bar) in New Mexico.
The property includes a small craft-beer-focused saloon called the Ghost Light Saloon, built into a renovated vintage trolley car on the grounds. The venue actively features its history in its branding, including horror-themed beer offerings produced in collaboration with local breweries. It was featured on a November 2020 episode of Travel Channel's Ghost Adventures.

Active poltergeist phenomena reported from first nightAggressive male presence nicknamed 'Bill' in 19th-century top hatTwo female spirits described by the owner and consulting psychicsBloodstain reportedly discovered in original flooring during 2014 renovation
According to the Albuquerque Journal, KRQE's New Mexico Strange, and Matador Network, owner Jesse Herron has experienced and publicly described paranormal activity at the Painted Lady from his first night on the property. Herron told the Journal: 'From even the very first night in there, it was like, "Game on" — things were making noise and things were moving.'
The reported activity is attributed by Herron and consulting psychics to two female spirits and an aggressive nineteenth-century male nicknamed 'Bill,' a top-hatted figure that a psychic told Herron was tormenting his dog. According to Herron's account, he engaged multiple psychics, a Buddhist priestess, a German seance, and a smoking 'demon trap' before he considered 'Bill' removed from the property. During the 2014 renovation, a bloodstain was reportedly discovered preserved in the original wood flooring.
The property was featured on a November 2020 episode of Travel Channel's Ghost Adventures, and is regularly covered in Albuquerque-area Halloween coverage. The venue actively markets itself on its haunted reputation — booking the inn means engaging with the paranormal narrative as a central part of the experience.
