Forestville Beach is a small, publicly accessible Lake Huron beach in the village of Forestville, Sanilac County, Michigan. The beach lies along Michigan's Thumb on the southwest shore of Lake Huron, approximately 13 miles south of Harbor Beach. The beach is accessed via Park Street and offers an overlook of Lake Huron with a popular picnic area.
Forestville sits between two longer-established Thumb communities, Port Sanilac to the south and Harbor Beach to the north, and shares the maritime heritage that characterizes Michigan's eastern Thumb. The surrounding coast is part of the Sanilac Shores Underwater Preserve, which stretches from near Lexington to just north of Forestville and protects at least 16 historic Great Lakes shipwrecks. One notable shipwreck began to founder and sank off Forestville on October 30, 1906 and lies today in 117 feet of water.
The Thumb's coastal communities, including Forestville, are tied culturally and economically to Lake Huron commercial and recreational use and to the Sanilac County Historical Museum in Port Sanilac, the Port Sanilac Lighthouse, and the Sanilac Petroglyphs Historic State Park inland.

Phantom scream around late eveningSound of a splash with no visible source
Local tradition collected in Michigan ghost-story compilations describes an account of a young person who drove off the steep road approach to Forestville Beach into Lake Huron after losing control of his vehicle on the descent. The story holds that on summer nights at roughly the same hour, visitors to the beach have reported hearing a scream followed by a sound likened to a large splash, with no visible source. The story is part of regional ghost-story tradition and is not corroborated in newspaper coverage of any specific incident.
The beach is a working public-recreation site. Visitors should follow posted park rules and not enter the water after dusk; Lake Huron currents are dangerous in low visibility.
