Phantom scream around late eveningSound of a splash with no visible source

Local tradition collected in Michigan ghost-story compilations describes an account of a young person who drove off the steep road approach to Forestville Beach into Lake Huron after losing control of his vehicle on the descent. The story holds that on summer nights at roughly the same hour, visitors to the beach have reported hearing a scream followed by a sound likened to a large splash, with no visible source. The story is part of regional ghost-story tradition and is not corroborated in newspaper coverage of any specific incident.

The beach is a working public-recreation site. Visitors should follow posted park rules and not enter the water after dusk; Lake Huron currents are dangerous in low visibility.
