Est. 1987 · Halekulani Sister Property · Late-1980s Waikiki Hospitality · Adaptive Rebranding
The Waikiki Parc Hotel opened in 1987 on Helumoa Road as the more accessible sister property to the Halekulani, located across the street. The Parc operated for 31 years before closing on October 1, 2018 for a $60 million renovation managed by the Halekulani Corporation and underwritten in part by Imperial Hotel Japan, the Halekulani's parent ownership group.
The property reopened in October 2019 as Halepuna Waikiki by Halekulani, a name derived from Hawaiian phrasing for "house of spring water" and conceived as a connection to the Halekulani brand identity. The renovation was framed as boutique-luxury rather than full luxury, retaining the smaller scale and walkable connection to the parent property.
The Waikiki Parc Hotel name no longer exists as an active hotel. Search results across travel platforms now route to Halepuna Waikiki at the same Helumoa Road address.

ApparitionsResidual haunting
The paranormal reports tied to this address stem from the Waikiki Parc era and circulated primarily among staff. The most-referenced story involves the employee time clock, where workers reported a recurring presence behaving as if punching in and out long after the shift had ended. A new front-desk employee, identified in the Shadowlands report as someone who claimed to perceive spirits, asked colleagues about the figure at the clock within days of being hired and provided an ethnicity description that staff found consistent with prior accounts.
The same employee reportedly described a separate, angrier Hawaiian presence in the hotel's electrical room. Because the building dated only to 1987, the suggestion was that this presence pre-dated the structure rather than originated within it.
The original Waikiki Parc closed for a $60 million renovation in October 2018 and reopened in October 2019 as Halepuna Waikiki by Halekulani. The current operator does not market the property as haunted, and no paranormal investigation programming exists. Visitors interested in this lore are checking into a modern boutique hotel that retains only the building footprint of the storied Parc.
